The Black History Tours
The Black History Tours provides an exciting opportunity for volunteers and individuals passionate about Black history to actively engage in exploring important historical sites. These guided tours visit buildings and landmarks that have played significant roles in Black history, both locally and nationally. The tours highlight the contributions of Black individuals and communities, offering a tangible connection to stories of resilience, ingenuity, and cultural impact that are often overlooked in mainstream history.

Among the notable stops on the tour is the grave of George Africanus, a former slave who became one of Nottingham’s most prominent Black figures. Volunteers play a key role in organizing and guiding these tours, with opportunities to get involved in researching and sharing these stories. This hands-on experience in historical interpretation and public engagement fosters pride in sharing Black history with a wider audience.
